Entries: An iPad App for Making Wufoo Forms Easier to Fill Out

Entries

The fine folks over at Overcommited have created a really neat iPad app called Entries that makes it easier for forms to be filled out on Apple’s tablet. Wufoo forms already look and work well on the iPad out of the box, but Entries takes things a step further by taking advantage iPad-specific controls and redesigning and reformatting the form layout so that it’s catered to the touch experience.

Entries is especially useful for any organizations and teams that both build and fill out their own forms for data entry. Perhaps you are a student who uses Wufoo forms to take notes. Perhaps you take orders or conduct polls in person by filling out a form. Perhaps you are running a conference and plan to gather feedback via a kiosk with an embedded iPad and Wufoo form. Then Entries would be the ideal solution for bringing the magic of Wufoo to your situation.

Entries is available right now and you can get it for $24.99 from the iTunes Store.

The images above highlight some of Entries cool features: contextual date pickers, simple multiple choice question turned into big toggle buttons rather than radio buttons, and more complex multiple choice questions getting bigger easier-to-tap targets. Entries even supports proper error messaging for things like missing required fields.

## Thanks

Big thanks to Harold Emsheimer, Jonathan Younger, and the whole team over at Overcommitted for their excellent work on this app.

For the developer-curious, Entries uses the Login API to make authenticating through Wufoo possible, the Forms API to see the users forms, the Fields API to see the structure, and the Entries API for submitting new form data.

## Giveaway

We’re going to give away a few free copies of the app! To win, just leave a comment below (using your real email, we’ll never publish it) with a little bit about why this app might be useful to you.

  • Designing some custom forms for trade shows would be awesome using Entries with wufoo.

  • I’m built an app that stitches together over 20 wufoo forms. While many people will be filling them out online, many of our customers are older and are more comfortable answering questions either in person or over the phone via one of our on-the-go reps. Would be great to make life a little better for those reps that fill these forms out over and over again!

  • Everyone needs a hug. Well, that, and also we’re obsessed with wufoo at my company and use it constantly. I travel a lot too and my iPad is my one true companion on the road. We also use our iPads at events for registration and for taking notes. This would help me out a lot!

  • Using this app would greatly help our business accept application forms that we store in our wufoo account at events, trade shows and around our campus. We have been looking for ways to reduce our paper use and protecting our member data with an iPad. Great to see a sulution like this, and we appreciate the effort to create this integration!

  • My Trademark Registration and Trademark Monitoring wufoo forms are awesome. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to edit them easily on the iPad! Also, I’ll be creating Copyright Registration forms next. Hook me up!

  • The design is sharp!
I think it would be cool to have the design they have as a theme option for normal web embedded forms.
    A hint of twitter bootstrap?

  • Everyone needs a hug…. and we need the App.

  • We would absolutely love this report for work! We use 9 daily reports constantly all day from our iPads that would be very useful! Do you know if you can view reports from this app also if the user has access to them?

  • Long long L-O-N-G time wufoo user here, and I love how you guys keep on innovating as the years pass. Who says forms are boring? I could definitely use this app with some of my clients!

  • I beg you, don’t give me this app, it will only fuel my addiction to completing forms built in wufoo!

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Dave.
  • Wonderful news! Just another reason to love wufoo and its functionality to make our lives and businesses better!

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Zach.
  • I could for sure use this app to help our business.

  • This app is exactly what i have been looking for at my church. I use wufoo forms to gather parents and kids information for our children’s ministry.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Andrew.
  • I would love to streamline the entry process and save me tons of time in my day for both myself and my clients.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Kevin.
  • Our University’s conference services team currently uses paper (gasp!) forms to collect feedback from attendees due to the challenges of the online form entries. Unfortunately this doesn’t mesh with our greater commitment to sustainability. Entries would be perfect for collecting paperless feedback combined with the efficiency and just-plain-coolness of wufoo forms.

  • I constantly collect surveys and this would streamline my process 100%. Thanks!

  • This app sounds like it could be a great addition. Can’t wait to check it out.

  • Love using wufoo, we use it a ton during the week multiple forms all very easily set up to forward emails to appropriate people automatically depending on field entries. Made my life way easier that hand programming forms for every event/schedule/sign-up or anything we need at church. I have even built full on kiosks using wufoo forms for all kinds of things. Even fuller iPad use would be amazing for our Youth services.

  • Entries looks fantastic. We have just implemented a number of wufoo forms for customers to evaluate our workshops using iPads in the classroom. Whilst the wufoo forms in the iPad browser are still pretty slick, we work with some techno-challenged clients who aren’t comfortable with the iPad interface. Entries, though, looks much more straight forward. It really turns it into something like a paper form. Beautiful! Just love wufoo and everything you’re doing for us…

  • This app could be very useful to our ministry s we speak at churches or colleges for people to sign up for additional information or even register for trips. It will be great when we set-up an informational display to have an iPad for sign-up too.

  • I was going to invent this! Looks like I am too late.

  • My organization is currently moving towards checking in our bi-weekly event attendees through the iPad and iPhone. It’s proving to be an amazing way to easily capture information!

  • Really like MailChimp’s iPad app, but I’d pay for a better one. I this is it!!

  • I sit on the board of directors of the Baltimore Area Triathlon Club, a non-profit, 501(c)(7) and I am bringing them online with Wufu’s free survey option. We will use Wufu to solicit member feedback so we can better serve the community and promote multi-sport participation across Maryland. We currently use iPhones and iPads for membership registration at events, and would love to use the same hardware at the events to poll athletes, other triathlon clubs, and community leaders attending the events.

Our tiny budget doesn’t have a lot of wiggle room for technology, and we would greatly benefit from a free copy of the app!

  • Our company helps college students find jobs and we attend over a hundred job fairs a year. We love using wufoo’s great ipad app for students to signup at the events. When it gets busy though, we end up having to revert to paper signups because it takes a bit too long to enter in their info. This app looks like a great way to make it even easier to signup. We’re pumped to check it out!

  • Well done….new iPad and a new app news on the same day. Wow! Keep it up

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Marc Inglis.
  • I would love this app its totally changed how we do run our organization. The $24.99 is a bit steep when I have about 5+ ipads I’d like to use this app on. Multi-discount?

  • My nonprofit organizes survey teams to interview homeless individuals. With its offline capability, this app could potentially streamline our field operations. Fingers crossed on iPhone and Android versions!

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Dan.
  • Anything to get beyond the Luddites. Even with some iPad troopers there remains the prospect of filling out wufoo forms to rate all the films we get for our film festival on the boring old inter-web-tube thing. Your app, on the other hand. Now that is something I can sell to them. I want it, I hear them holler. Now, if I had a copy ready for my iPad 3 TBD on the 16th, then, well, no contest. Looks fab.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Jim Ewing.
  • Offline capability is great for school environments too. We use iPads in airplane mode with young children in the classroom.

  • This would be an invaluable tool for creating on-the-go demos for clients who often have a hard time conceptualizing the easy-of-use wufoo forms have to offer.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Paul.
  • Been looking for a better way to list wufoo forms on our iPads for customer registration and sign ups.

  • Everyone needs a hug…and for this to work with payment integration, it’ a must for us. Otherwise a wonderful and beautifully designed app.

  • We are looking for ways to incorporate the iPads of our team by using wufoo on the go for our information/data collection for home inspections. I’m dying to see if they can make this app have a DRAWING element to it so we could do simple sketches built in with the date, time and other questions/data we need. OMG I think I’d wet my pants if they could or do incorporate the drawing into this. OMG. Did I say I might wet my pants?

  • Everyone needs a hug. Yes they do 🙂

Thank you for this. I am traveling to camping shows and wanted to find ways for people to sign up for our mailing list is a good solution as we plan to use the ipad for other ‘kiosk’ type functions. Thanks so much.
    God Bless,
    Chris

  • Amazing stuff! We actually have an ‘ipad kiosk’ at our centre so this app would be a dream come true…

  • In our district, we currently have implemented roughly 15 different forms that our administration and staff members use on a day-to-day basis. All of our administrators as well as most of our teachers have iPads, so this app would be perfect for us. We will now be able to edit entries easier and more efficiently from anywhere within the district, without having to rely on a computer to do so. Once the district saw what this app can do, I am sure that all of them would want this app. Thanks!

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Josh.
  • This is such a great idea…. we use woofu to survey our customers at the pub, being able to carry an ipad around to fill out the forms id defiantly alot more streamline rather then carrying the laptop around

  • This app looks so cool. We use wufoo to run our annual commuter challenge and would love to do field sign ups at fairs with this app.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Andrew Rankin.
  • We would use this app at the University of Chicago for registering people for our upcoming, free, public and scholarly events. This app would be extremely helpful!

We would appreciate the free copy of the app. We’ll be sure to tell all our colleagues across campus about this great tool!

  • This would be spectacular for community events, street fairs and the like — great for doing interest surveys.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Mike Rose.
  • I am the director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina and we would use the application to enroll new volunteer mentors at the schools.

  • wufoo always shows good form.

Please add this to the entries for Entries.

  • We have been working with pronto forms trying to figure out some ways of integrating forms and all. This appears to have what we need to do that. I look forward to working with wufoo to see. Thanks for the email!

  • This is awesome, need it for our welllness, at the moment we give paper forms to our clients and its really annoying, for them because its so old fashion, and for us because its really a pain to put those information in our database

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Johny.
  • I’m developing a reconnaissance form for earthquake professionals to fill out while investigating earthquake disaster regions. wufoo’s forms allows for standardization across reconnaissance teams, and an ipad app makes it that much easier for a team member to fill out the information on the go. Does the app allow the user to take a photo for a form using the ipad?

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Michael Germeraad.
  • I am new to wufoo but love the ease of use. It makes it easy to create forms for entries, such as ours in the waiting room at the doctor’ offices. The iPad app blends so well with the wufoo application, and makes it even simpler to enter patient’s data in the waiting room.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by George.
  • We’re excited to hear about the Entries app. In a large church of 2,300, we often assist our congregation with event sign-ups using ipads before and after our multiple services. We look forward to using Entries.

  • I don’t know if it’s too late, but I’d love this app for my restaurant!

I am having all our to-do lists, prep lists, and inventory lists put on ipads.

Plus, I’d end up upgrading to paid wufoo, so I’d love that app

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Blake.
  • This app will be great for my school. No need to print forms for student registration and school forms. I would love to have this app!

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Vince.
  • This fantastic because we have an annual symposium at the hospital where I work and also grand rounds and numerous meetings and surveys we constantly need feedback. This will be an extremely useful tool since Ipads are just be introduced as a extremely useful tool in the medical field.

  • This would be very useful in creating the report forms our company uses for each of our managers eliminating the time it takes to set up a laptop and attach documents and spreadsheets to emails.

Posted March 5th, 2012 by Joe Nelson.
  • Our techs use bulky old laptops and USB printers to fill out forms and print them for our clients. It would be so much easier on our techs and more professional looking if they could just click on radio buttons to fill out the form and submit the print job wirelessly.

  • Our multibillion dollar organization is looking to equipt our salesforce with iPads. They need to be able to complete specific forms (we are currently using wufoo for our form usage) during client meetings. I am leading a pilot program right now and looking to find the best apps to utilize. This would be AWESOME I bet. Are you still giving away the app? I would love to test this out with our pilot program. Thanks!
